Compress PDF

Make a PDF smaller so it’s easy to email or upload, free and private. Choose a compression level and the file is rebuilt entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server, there’s no signup, and no watermark. It works best on scanned or image-heavy PDFs.

A free alternative to iLovePDF, Smallpdf, Adobe Acrobat — no signup, no upload, no watermark, and no daily limit. It runs entirely in your browser, so it’s private and instant, and it stays free.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
Why did my text stop being selectable after compressing?
To shrink the file, each page is re-encoded as an image, so text becomes part of the image. This gives big savings on scanned or image-heavy PDFs, but the compressed copy is no longer selectable text.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on the PDF and the level you choose. Scanned and image-heavy PDFs often shrink dramatically; PDFs that are already small or mostly plain text may save little.
